Roadside emergencies are a frequent occurrence in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. During such incidents, there is a limited availability of service providers capable of delivering timely and affordable assistance. While there are several service providers in the market, their accessibility comes with a high cost and inconvenience as requesting aid during a roadside emergency requires contacting individual service providers. This leaves customers with no choice but to opt for the service provider they can reach out to the fastest. Similarly, despite the availability of numerous service providers across NSW, many are unable to compete due to lower brand recognition, the presence of monopolies, and high switching costs for customers.
To address this challenge, InnoVenture proposes the development of RoadMate, a comprehensive, real-time mobile application for Uber to address roadside emergencies in NSW. The application will run on both IOS and Android operating systems and will be developed using agile methodology. The application will match the customer’s location to the nearest available service providers, real-time tracking and confirmations, Global positioning system, location sharing, creation of user profiles for customers and service providers, 24/7 customer support, referral scheme, adding of vehicles and towing trucks owned by service providers, appointment scheduling, and reviews and feedback. Customers looking for roadside assistance will be able to select from a range of services and securely make payments through the application. Similarly, service providers will be able to sign up to create a profile and list all the services they provide along with their rates. RoadMate,
