Make Data Fly at WSI-1

Make Data Fly at WSI is a project collaboration between Western Sydney Airport (WSA), DXCTechnology, and WSU. The objective of this project is to identify and define approaches to prototyping the capture and use of key data points throughout the WSI ecosystem. The datasets created are intended to assist WSI Airport Operations and Customer teams to increase operational awareness, maximise efficiency of the airport asset, and deliver a superior customer experience.

To kickstart the project, the WSU students came up with a virtual buddy in the form of a Mobile Application that runs in both IOS and Android which assists First-time flyers, anxious flyers, or First-Time in WSI Airport. The apps main objective is to reduce anxiety or stress and amount of time users are spent in various checkpoints in WSI, especially security screening which sees the longest wait-times.

Features in the app includes Bulletin Board, Map Page which shows the users current flight, upcoming flights and historical flights, Checklist, Journey Map, Notifications, Help Page and Live Queue Feed. In addition, the current flight page has a ‘Begin Journey’ Button so that the user can plan and navigate their way to the plane anywhere within the Curb-To-Gate boundary.
