Introduction:
Passport Crop is an iOS app that allows the user to upload a photo of themselves for automatic cropping using facial recognition into specific dimensions for a selected country. The problem was to use technology to increase efficiency, which the applet has proven to be a perfect solution to.
Method and Technology Used:
There are multiple stages embedded with this project, including UI and UX design, implementation of the project using Swift, and debugging and adding appropriate error messages.
The applet was developed using Xcode, and the facial recognition feature uses the vision framework which uses custom unsupervised core machine learning models for classification and object detection.
Results:
The hardest part of the project was actually cropping the image. This required a lot of trial and error and a set of restrictions had to be implemented when taking the image itself. I found that machine learning models have limitations that need to be addressed to increase their reliability. The hardest part of the project was actually cropping the image.
